As outlined in Illinois Compiled Statutes Ch.55 ILCS 5/3-5018 and CH.55 ILCS 5/3-5018.1

Document Formatting Requirements

Documents should be submitted on 8.5x11 inch paper, and should not be permanently bound. If the document contains multiple pages, it can be stapled together. The document should be printed in black ink in a minimum font size of 10-point. Double-sided printing is allowed. Only originals are accepted. Copies are not permitted.

The first page of the document should contain a blank space of 3x5 inches in the upper right-hand corner. This space is reserved for recorders information.

Subsequent margins should be clear of writing and should be at least .5 inches on the tops, bottoms, and sides.

Documents submitted for recording should not have any attachments stapled or otherwise affixed to any page.

All documents are required to list the name and address of the preparer of the document, the name and address of the grantee, the name and address for tax billing, and the property address.

All documents must have return name and address information.

Deeds pertaining to real property must include a legal description, which includes notarized metes and bounds.

Documents submitted for recordation must have a completed Real Estate Transfer Tax Declaration or Exemption.

The following municipalities in Will County, Illinois require the purchase of a Municipal Transfer Stamp before recording can be done: Aurora, Bolingbrook, Channahon, Joliet, Monee, Naperville, Park Forest, Romeoville, University Park, and Woodridge.
