And it\u2019s definitely still in its pricey stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s take a look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pricey and Personalized, It\u2019s Targeting the Luxury Market\u2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.josh.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Josh.ai<\/a>, which started up in 2015, describes itself as creating \u201cplatforms and products that enable true natural interaction with technology in everyday life.\u201d Now, with its latest offering, it puts the tech from OpenAI&#8217;s ChatGPT into smart home design. With its cutting-edge Natural Language Processing, it can run circles around other systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Josh absorbs strings of questions, and handles them together. It choreographs the various smart home devices a household has. It can work with Apple TV and various entertainment subscriptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s the rub. The Josh.ai home automation system costs several thousands of dollars. Setting up the system takes professionals \u2014 who match rooms with sensors in a way that\u2019s unique to each home. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">But Could Be a Game-Changer for Older Adults?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Amazon\u2019s Echo has won fans among older adults. Asking Alexa for updates might be easier than reading the weather report, thermostat, or watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What else can voice-controlled apps do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Turn on lights for safety at night. &nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lock and unlock doors, and share lock codes with trusted visitors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Monitor a home for unusual activity or for water, smoke, or gas leaks. Send alert messages to our phones, so we can prevent damage or address hazards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Monitor personal health indicators and provide urgent alert services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enable appliances to track food nutrition and freshness dates; automate grocery orders; and automatically adjust cooking and washing settings. &nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And so, for those of us who adopt the technology, safety and independence can be more robust through decades of our adult lives. We can also better manage our resources. We save energy and money with smart thermostats and shades, together with local weather data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">GPT Tech Makes Even-Smarter Homes\u2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Smart homes will keep getting better at doing what really matters to their occupants.
