Governed by 760 ILCS 5/8.5, the certificate of trust is the document a trustee provides to a lending institution or other third party that certifies the existence of a trust and his/her authority to act on behalf of the trust.
The document presents only essential information about the trust in lieu of the actual trust document. It names the settlor of the trust and all acting trustees, as well as any successor trustees who may be named under the terms of the trust document. If there are co-trustees, it states the number of trustees required to authorize actions. In addition, the certificate identifies whether or not a trust is revocable and amendable, and who holds authority to revoke and/or make amendments. Certain information, such as the parties having a beneficial interest in the trust, remains confidential.
The recipient of a certificate of trust is not liable for any actions they may take based on false representations within the certificate (760(ILCS 5/8.5(f)). While notarization is not obligatory, a third party may require that the certification of trust be acknowledged.

Of little use to me. I did not feel this really help me to do a Quick Claim Deed here in Minnesota on my own. All it showed me is what a complex mess it is to fill out this deed. That, unfortunately, I am going to have to hire a professional to make sure it is done right.

I did not receive the information in a timely fashion as stated on the website. I would not recommend this service.

That is significantly longer than the 10 minute average listed on our website. Even in these unprecedented times of quarantines and staff shortages our failure is unacceptable. Communication is hard. The reps need to be empowered and encouraged to call the customers when necessary. They encourage 300 dpi resolution and under 2 MB PDF file, which is not even possible with our scanner. They made a vague comment about a legal description looking abbreviated but did not explain. They refused to call me. They said the county said "Image is light please darken", but the image looked fine to me. Maybe not their fault, but they refused to help work with the county on that for me. I followed their suggestion though and re-scanned at 300 dpi, but they misunderstood me and did not re-submit it right away. Over 48 hours later, it's still not recorded yet. I hope it will be today.
