The Recording Department of the Clerk of Court is responsible for recording and maintaining real property records in Acadia Parish.
Recording Fees
For 1 to 5 page documents -- $105
For 6 to 25 page documents -- $200
For 26 to 50 documents -- $300
For documents in excess of 50 pages -- $300 for the first fifty pages and $5 for each subsequent page.
After 10 names of indexing, $5 per name
Debtor Fee (No SS# or Tax ID #), $25 per debtor
The following is inclusive of all recordings:
a. Indexing of all names up to 10.
b. One certified copy
$50 for the recordation of an act or affidavit to cancel a single mortgage, lien, partial release, or privilege.
For Multiple Cancellations or partial release on a single piece of property, it will be based on the per page count.
For cancelling real estate mortgage with original note, $10.
If a document is to be recorded and filed in both mortgage and conveyance, the fees shall be assessed separately in the mortgage and conveyance records.
Anything over the legal paper size will be an additional $20 per page.
Maps/Plats Oversize, $120 and includes up to 10 names indexed. $5 per name after the 10th name.
For notarizing acknowledgments of acts executed under private signature, with seal and certificate, $10.
For certificate of real estate mortgage and lien certificate with seal, for each name in which search is made, and for one definable property only, $20 for the first name and $10 for each additional name. There shall be an additional charge of $1 per exception in the event that more than ten exceptions are contained on a certificate. Each additional tract shall be $20 per tract and each additional name shall be $10 per name.
Notice of Repossession will remain $75.00.
Affidavit of Identity prior to 7/1/2012, $18 + ($6 for each additional page + $3 for each additional name)

Copies, $2 per page if made by staff. $1 if made by the public.
Conformed Copy, $5 plus copy fee.

PLEASE NOTE:
If a general mortgage certificate is ordered, all names, exhibits, descriptions, etc. are included. This could escalate the price considerably depending on what is found. If you are ordering a general, you may want to call first and speak with the mortgage department before the work is performed.
NOTE: If the instrument must be recorded in both conveyance and mortgage record, then the recording fee will be twice the amount less $5.00 LCRAA fee)
Non-standard documents: $10.00 in addition to recording fees for documents that are not in compliance with the recording standards (La.R.S. 13:844(D)).

Document Formatting Requirements
* Documents should be submitted on 8.5 x 11 inch white paper or 8.5 x 14 inch white paper. The font should be black and no smaller than 8 point.
* Original copies only are accepted. These are not returned to the submitter.
* In order to avoid the non-compliance fee, use a margin of two inches at the top of the first page and one inch at the bottom and sides and on any additional pages, then identify the document by title right below the top margin.
* Any party to an act conveying real property located in Louisiana outside the city limits of New Orleans may obtain a certificate showing whether the state, parish, municipal, and levee district taxes due thereon, except for the year in which the conveyance takes place, have been paid.
* The seller of residential real property shall complete a property disclosure document in a form prescribed by the Louisiana Real Estate Commission or a form that contains at least the minimum required by that commission.
* Documents must include a legal property description and must state the total consideration paid for the property.
Unlike most other states, original documents sent to the Clerk of the District Court and Ex-Officio Recorder are not returned to the sender. Section 2742 of the Louisiana Civil Code provides that documents deposited with the recorder become part of the parish archives. The filing party may obtain certified copies of the original documents with the Clerk's endorsement at the time of filing from the Recording Department, after filing, the copies may be obtained from the Research Department.
