About the Jasper County Recorder's Office

The Chancery Clerk is responsible for recording and maintaining real property records in Jasper County, which has two judicial districts, Bay Springs and Paulding, each with a separate courthouse, in which separate records are maintained.

Recording Fees

These government fees are separate from any Deeds.com service fees. Confirm current charges with the recorder's office.

Mineral Stamp Fees: (MISS CODE ANN. 273179)
1-10 years: $0.03 per mineral acre
11-20 years: $0.06 per mineral acre
20+ years: $0.08 per mineral acre
Furnishing Minerals on deeds are $.08 per mineral acre
NOTE: Mineral Stamps if applicable are $1.00 minimum

A document that does not meet formatting requirements will be recorded for an additional fee of $10.00

Furnishing Copies:
Performed by clerk or employee $0.50 per page
If performed by any other person $0.25 per page
Certified Copies $1.00 per each complete document

Document Requirements

Confirm current requirements with the recorder's office before submitting documents.

* Paper size of 8.5 x 11 inches, not permanently bound or in a continuous form. Pages of a document may be stapled together.

* Paper should be white and not less than 20 pound paper.

* Printing on one side only. All text should be of sufficient color and clarity to be reproduced.

* No attachments may be stapled or affixed to any page.

* A firmly attached label with a barcode or return address may be placed on the document.

* Printing or typing must be in a font size no smaller than 8 point. Documents with a font smaller than 8 point must be accompanied by an exact typewritten or printed copy that meets the font requirements. This will be recorded as an additional page of the document.

* The real property document should list the consideration paid.

* The transferor of any real property shall deliver to the prospective transferee the written property disclosure statement (required by sections 89-1-501 through 89-1-523).

FIRST PAGE REQUIREMENTS

* Top margin of 3 inches.

* Other margins should be at least .75 of an inch.

* Non-essential information may be placed in "other margins."

* Below the 3-inch margin, include the following information: The name, address, and telephone number of the individual who prepared the document; return address; title of the document; all grantors' names; all grantees' names; addresses and phone numbers of grantors and grantees; and a legal description of the property or indexing instruction.

* If there is insufficient space on the first page for the entire legal description or the entire indexing instructions, the immediately succeeding pages should be used.
