In Iowa, in order to perfect a mechanic's lien, the claimant must make a filing with the clerk of the district court of the county in which the building, land, or improvement to be charged with the lien is situated of a verified statement of account of the demand due the person, after allowing all credits. I.C. 572.8(1).
The verified statement must include: 1) the date when such material was first furnished or labor first performed, and the date on which the last of the material was furnished or the last of the labor was performed; 2) the legal description of the property to be charged with the lien; and 3) the name and last known mailing address of the owner of the property. Id. Once the lien is filed, the clerk of court will mail a copy of the lien to the owner. 572.8(2).

Fairly easy to use. I had to really search to get some info. I had to use the Exhibit feature because the description box was way too small and I ended up re-typing it. The package had good and useful links. The County Clerk looked at it and said, "I see you used an online form, and that's OK, but..." and proceeded to show me a couple of things that were left out. They recorded it with no problems.

Their customer service is impressive to say the least. I sent them an email and I received a response that the issue had been resolved in under an hour. They even apologized for the inconvenience. The form was very easy to use and the sample tool you had was very helpful. the only problem i had was saving the document and then trying to find it later. I finally was able to figure out how to save it. but i still cannot find the saved document on my computer. Luckily i printed it before i closed it and did not need to make any changes.
