A Notice of Contract is not mandated by the North Carolina lien code, although a prime contractor may want to file and post a Notice of Contract because it offers additional protection by reducing the possibility of double payment. The Notice must be filed and posted within 30 days from the issuance of the building permit. N.C.G.S. 44A-23.
A second or third tier subcontractor will be prohibited from enforcing a lien when a contractor when the Notice is posted on the property and filed with the Clerk of the Superior Court.
The Notice includes: (1) the name and address of the contractor; (2) the name and address of the owner of the real property at the time the Notice of Contract is recorded; (3) a general description of the real property to be improved (such as street address, tax map lot and block number, reference to recorded instrument, or any other description that reasonably identifies the real property); and (4) the name and address of the person, firm or corporation filing this Notice of Contract. N.C.G.S. 44A-23(b)(2).

After some initial general confusion -- (we sold a small piece of land privately and therefore do not typically prepare such documentation (!)) -- we were able to purchase and download all forms from Deeds.com and understand how to complete it/them. The help is all there, we just needed to read and study it - the "Example" helped alot. We were able to complete the Document per your online form(s) and then take it to be signed/notarized - and take the completed paper document to the Registry -- and it is now all registered and we are All Set. rn Took the morning (only). I needed a quitclaim deed to transfer ownership of a home. An attorney wanted $400.00 to file the deed. I downloaded a blank deed for my area from deeds.com. I received it instantly. (Small fee) it came with instructions and a template. I filled it out and submitted it to the County Clerks office.it was simple and I saved a lot of money. There may be other forms you need, check with whoever you are submitting the deed.
You'll have additional fees, but that is up to the municipality in which you reside. It will be helpful if you have the latest deed on file.
It was much easier than I thought. This is an easy website to navigate through and it is 100% legitimate. I recommend Deeds.com.
