About the Chambers County Recorder's Office

The Probate Office is responsible for recording and maintaining real property records in Chambers County.

Recording Fees

These government fees are separate from any Deeds.com service fees. Confirm current charges with the recorder's office.

Copy Fees.......$1.00 per page

Certification Fee......$3.00

Satisfactions, Releases $11.25 / 1 page $3.00 each additional page

Judgements, Lis Pendens, etc $11.25 / 1 page $3.00 each additional page

Assignments, Affidavits, etc. $11.25 / 1 page $3.00 each additional page

Deeds, Easements, Leases, etc. $11.25 / 1 page $3.00 each additional page

Mortgage, Modifications, etc. $11.25 / 1 page $3.00 each additional page

Sales Contracts $11.25 / 1 page $3.00 each additional page

Grantors and/or Grantees: $1.00 per name (over two names)

Deed Tax: $.50 per $500.00 or fraction thereof.
Mortgage Tax $.15 per $100.00 or fraction thereof.

Document Requirements

Confirm current requirements with the recorder's office before submitting documents.

* Documents must list the name and address of the grantee on the first page.

* Original copies or certified copies of originals are acceptable.

* All instruments of conveyance must be in writing, attested by two witnesses, and signed by the contracting party or his agent. If he is unable to sign his name, it may be written for him with the words 'his mark' written next to his name.

* The name and address of the preparer of the document should be listed in the following format: 'This instrument prepared by NAME and ADDRESS.'

* Any instrument attempting to transfer any interest in land will not be recorded if the instrument describes the land by reference to a plat but does not have the plat attached to the instrument or if the instrument does not describe the plat book or office in which it is located. There must also be a legal description of the land by metes and bounds.

* The marital status of the grantor on any deed or mortgage should be listed.

REQUIRED INFORMATION:
Grantor and Grantee name and address, property address and assessed or sale value
must be in the body of the deed. If not an RT-1 is required.
Extra names to be indexed above 2
Direct and/or Reverse; $1.00 per name
This includes: fka, nka, aka, nominee, trustee, attorney in fact, successor, dba,
etc.
Deed and Mortgage signatures must be notarized.
