About the Jackson County Recorder's Office

The Chancery Clerk is responsible for recording and maintaining real property records in Jackson County.

Recording Fees

Mineral Stamp Fees: (MISS CODE ANN. 273179)
1-10 years: $0.03 per mineral acre
11-20 years: $0.06 per mineral acre
20+ years: $0.08 per mineral acre
Furnishing Minerals on deeds are $.08 per mineral acre
NOTE: Mineral Stamps if applicable are $1.00 minimum

A document that does not meet formatting requirements will be recorded for an additional fee of $10.00

Furnishing Copies:
Performed by clerk or employee $0.50 per page
If performed by any other person $0.25 per page
Certified Copies $1.00 per each complete document

Document Requirements

Confirm current requirements with the recorder's office before submitting documents.

* Documents should have printing only on one side. Documents may not be bound together, and may not have anything affixed to them other than an address label or firmly attached bar code.

* The font used should be no smaller than 8-point. It should be in blue or black ink on white paper, size 8.5 x 11.

* The first page of the document needs a top margin of at least 3 inches of vertical space, from left to right. This is used for the recorder's information. All other margins should be a minimum of .75 of an inch. Nonessential information can appear in margins (except for the first page margin).

* Below the three inch margin on the first page, the following information should appear:
-Name, address, and telephone number of individual who prepared the document.
-Return address.
-Title of the document.
-All grantors' names.
-All grantees' names.
-Address or phone number of property, required by 27-3-51, Mississippi Code of 1972.
-A legal description of the property or indexing instruction. If there is not enough room on the first page for this, the information should be given uninterrupted on subsequent pages.
