Subcontractor Mechanic's Lien Claims in Iowa
Under 572.10 of Iowa Code, subcontractors are eligible to claim a mechanic's lien. A contractor or a subcontractor may perfect a mechanic's lien beyond ninety (90) days after the date on which the last of the material was furnished or the last of the labor was performed by filing a claim with the clerk of the district court. I.C. 572.10.
A valid claim identifies the parties, the project's location, relevant dates, a list of work and associated charges, any payments, and the amount due. The claimant must provide written notice of such claim to the owner. Id. The notice may be served by any person in the same manner that original notices are required to be served, such as personal service or certified mail. Id. If the party to be served is outside of the county where the property is situated, a return of that fact by the person charged with making such service shall constitute sufficient service from and after the time it was filed with the clerk of the district court. Id.

Had a difficult time finding my download after purchase. Thankfully I had printed the form and had. However it was read only and I'm not experienced enough to be able to change that. So I went into my word program and typed in the form. I should be able to use it for my purpose. Just glad I was finally able to find it after hours of searching online. I'm in my 70's and not real computer intelligent which may have been part of the problem

I used the Affidavit of Death form provided by Deeds.com. The form and directions were easy to follow. I took the form to the county clerk's office for filing after getting it notarized. The site is fine with one exception. About half the pdf files I downloaded were corrupted. I could not open them or view their contents. Fortunately, the link continued to work, so after I discovered this, I downloaded the corrupted files again, and they now seem fine. I do not know if my computer or the website caused this odd problem.
