Releasing a Mechanic's Lien in Oklahoma
Liens that expire or are otherwise no longer valid must be released. In order to release property from a mechanic's lien, a lien release form needs to be executed. There is no statutory lien release form, although under principles of contract law and the potential for civil damages caused by the lien, a lien claimant should release property when the lien is no longer justified.
In Oklahoma, the lien claimant must execute a form stating the lien has been paid off and should therefore be released and discharged from the record by the county clerk. The clerk is then authorized and directed to enter the satisfaction of the Lien onto the Lien Journal.

If I hadn't spent my career as an escrow officer (albeit in another state), I may have had a hard time figuring out exactly which deed I needed and how to prepare them, even with the back-up informational, how-to pdf documents, without an attorney. We aimed to handle a survivorship affidavit (deed change) without a lawyer following my dad's death. After some searching, deeds.com seemed to have the most comprehensive and "correct looking" form we could find for our locale, so we went with it, and it was accepted by our recorder's office. I'm not sure why our local government office doesn't offer a standard form, but they don't, and deeds.com came through for us in a pinch.
