The affidavit of heirship, sometimes called an affidavit of inheritance, is a statutory form under T.C.A. 30-2-712.
An affidavit of heirship, when recorded, gives notice of a change in title following the death of a real property owner. It is typically recorded when the decedent has died intestate, or without a last will and testament. The affidavit names the decedent and the heirs who, by operation of law, are the current owners of the property.
The affiant, or person making the sworn statements contained in the affidavit, is anyone having knowledge of the facts contained within. A standard affidavit of heirship contains the legal description and map parcel number of the realty and lists the heirs by name, address, and relation to the decedent.
In addition, if not followed by a recorded deed from one or all heirs, the affidavit requires the tax bill address for tax statements on the property and a prior title reference stating the type of document and book, page, and recording date of the instrument granting title to the decedent.

My E-deed was not excepted by the county, so I had to snail mail the documents to the recorders office. Will probably not use this site again, as it did not fulfill my purpose, but would recommend to those who do not have complicated forms.

While it's nice to get all the forms and info in one package for a reasonable cost, the fixed format of the form does not allow for a lengthy meet and bounds property description for real property. Also, the Cover Sheet has big fillable sections with no instructions about what's supposed to go there. I tried the "Contact Us" link, but all it does is spin saying it's trying verify the security of my connection. Looks like I;m going to have to create my own deed in MS Word instead of just filling in the blacks of the PDF file that I downloaded. Bummer!

If I hadn't spent my career as an escrow officer (albeit in another state), I may have had a hard time figuring out exactly which deed I needed and how to prepare them, even with the back-up informational, how-to pdf documents, without an attorney. My experience speaks to how much the general public doesn't understand and how confusing it can be. Nonetheless, the access to so many documents at a fairly reasonable cost, the basic how-to docs made available along with the purchased doc makes all the difference. I followed the instructions to download the form for my Mac, typed in the legal description of the real property but the space provided for it would not expand so I just typed the form into Word as a document. While I appreciate having the form to work with it would have been a breeze if it worked properly.
