Older real estate deed books, plats, maps, and microfilm are available at the Garden City Records Center, 4225 Augusta Road, Suite C, Garden City, GA 31408; an appointment is required to view older physical records. There is no charge to search and view documents in the office; copies are $.50 per page.

Fee schedule effective July 1, 2024.
StatewideMaps and plats are $10.00 per page. Fees under O.C.G.A. § 15-6-77(f) include recording and returning the document.
Plats, maps and condominium floor plans are $10.00 each and must be filed via www.GSCCCA.org. State/local liens are $5.00 first page and $2.00 each additional page; state/local lien cancellations or releases are $7.00 first page and $2.00 each additional page. No fee for cross reference.

Credit and debit cards are not accepted for payment when filing in person; they may be used when e-filing real estate documents and for copies of real estate documents. Checks accepted are firm checks or checks with local addresses printed on them.
Transfer tax
Real estate transfer tax. $1.00 for the first $1,000.00 or fractional part of $1,000.00 and at the rate of 10¢ for each additional $100.00 or fractional part of $100.00. The tax is collected when the document is recorded. (statewide, O.C.G.A. § 48-6-1)
StatewideIntangible recording tax: $1.50 per each $500.00 or fraction thereof of the face amount of all notes secured, levied on each instrument securing one or more long-term notes secured by real property; maximum tax on a single security instrument is $25,000 (O.C.G.A. § 48-6-61; Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. 560-11-8-.02).
