Land records in Bonner County are recorded by the Recording Office. The office is held by Michael W. Rosedale.

Documents with recording dates of July 1, 1986 to current are available online; earlier records require an in-office search of the index books. Documents are indexed to name and by recording date, not to property. Staff can show how to research between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).

Recording Fees

StatewideEach additional release or assignment in the same instrument: $1.00. Substitution of a trustee: $10.00, and powers of attorney: $25.00, for instruments of thirty pages or less, plus $3.00 for each page beyond thirty. Maps, sketches, drawings or other instruments (except plats) larger than 8 1/2 by 14 inches: two cents per square inch. Town plat or map: $11.00 for the first one hundred lots or less, plus 5¢ for each additional lot. Survey filing: $5.00 per page.

Cover sheets are considered an additional page. Conformed Copy (you provide the copy): $1. Military Discharge: no fee for recording or copies.

Transfer tax

The 3-inch margin across the entire top of the first page must be completely blank. If the document does not accommodate the margin, a cover sheet with the document title at least three inches down from the top is required; the cover page counts as an additional page for recording fees.

Documents presented for re-recording must be the original and include the recording information; the reason for the correction should be indicated just above or just below the title and refer to the prior instrument number. All corrections must be initialed. Only minor corrections are accepted for re-recording.
