Fee schedule effective January 1, 2021.
StatewideWhere the county recorder has elected to attest to the release, partial release, or assignment of any mortgage, judgment, lien, or oil and gas lease on a multiple transaction document, each transaction after the first is $7 plus the $25 fee. Release of political subdivision liens on property sold or transferred under IC 6-1.1-24-6.1 or IC 36-1-11: $25 per parcel. Copies of pages larger than 11 x 17 inches: $5 per page. Counties may add an affordable housing fee of $10 per document by ordinance (IC 36-2-7-10(c)(9)); Marion County fees are set under IC 36-2-7-10.5 and 10.7. No fee is charged to record official bonds of public officers.
Mechanic's lien: $25.00 including one mail out; $2.00 each additional mail out. The recorder may retain up to $3.00 of an overage payment.
Transfer tax
No transfer tax. None is collected when a document is recorded. (statewide)

StatewideDocuments may not contain an individual's Social Security number unless required by law, and must carry the statement: "I affirm, under the penalties for perjury, that I have taken reasonable care to redact each Social Security number in this document, unless required by law (name)." at the conclusion of the instrument, immediately preceding or following the prepared-by statement. Instruments must bear an acknowledgment or a proof. Conveyances must state the tax statement mailing address and the grantee's mailing address at the end of the conveyance, immediately preceding or following the statements required by IC 36-2-11-15. The formatting standards of IC 36-2-11-16.5 do not apply to court judgments, orders, or writs; wills or death certificates; plats; or surveys.
Deeds, surveys, affidavits and contracts must be endorsed by the Auditor prior to recording. Sales disclosure forms require endorsement by the County Assessor prior to recording any conveyance document. A power of attorney authorizing the execution of a document must be recorded prior to that document. Split property requires a survey/drawing for the Auditor and also to be recorded. The document shall clearly identify on the front page the specific cross-reference to be included with the recorded document.
