About Maryland Recording

Maryland state law requires that real estate deeds be executed and recorded in order to be valid and provide constructive notice of the transfer.

In most cases deed documents are recorded in the county where the property is located.

The City of Baltimore is independent from Baltimore County and does its own recording. Recording and maintenance of land records is generally handled by the office of the Clerk of Court.
