StatewideIf an instrument contains more than 10 descriptions, $2 for each additional description. Recording any plat: $50 for each sheet and $2 for each lot or unit designation. Redacting personal information: $5. A county recorder may not charge more than one recording fee for each instrument, regardless of whether the instrument bears multiple descriptive titles or includes one or more attachments. Copy fees are set by the county legislative body. Counties of the second through sixth class add $5 to each of these fees (Utah Code § 17-71-407(3)(b)), so most counties charge $45 per document; Salt Lake and Utah Counties charge $40.

Plat of subdivision or condominium: $55.00 per sheet, plus $2.00 for each unit, lot, or parcel. Redacting personal information (limited to signature, first five digits of a social security number, and month and day of birth date) under Utah Code 17-71-406: $10.00. Filing a record of survey map under Utah Code 17-73-103: $40.00 per page. Copy fees: plats 18x18 $3.00; plats 24x36 $5.00; plats 24x36 color $8.00; plats larger than 24x36 $8.00; 8-1/2x11 color $1.00; 11x17 $1.00; copies transmitted by mail $2.00. Certifying acknowledgments, including seal: $5.00 for one name, plus $2.00 for each additional name.

Transfer tax

StatewideFirst page: a space of 2-1/2 inches down and 4-1/2 inches across the upper right corner. Succeeding pages: a margin of one inch at the top.

The recording stamp requires a space 2.5 inches down and 4.5 inches across on the upper right corner of the first page, and a margin of 1 inch at the bottom of each successive page.

StatewideEach document must be an original or certified copy, be in English or accompanied by an accurate English translation, contain a brief title, heading, or caption on the first page stating the nature of the document, contain the legal description of the property, be notarized with the notary stamp with the seal legible (unless otherwise provided by statute), and have original signatures. A county recorder may require the tax identification number of each parcel to be noted on the instrument. The paper, margin, ink, and single-sided standards apply only where a county recorder has given formal notice and published an effective date at least three months later.
