Document Formatting Requirements

* Documents shall consist of one or more individual pages printed only on one side.

* The first page of a document should have a top margin of 3 inches. This area is reserved for the recording information and is to be left blank. All other margins should be .75 of an inch to 1 inch.

* The font size must be at least 8 point, but the Harrison County Chancery Clerk prefers 10 point font.

* The numbering of pages is not required, but is helpful. Page numbers can be in the margins of the page.

* The grantors and grantees must be listed, along with required addresses and phone numbers, on the first page of the document.

* The legal description of the property shall be contained in a separate page and should be labeled as "Exhibit A." If there is sufficient space in the document, the legal description and indexing information can be on the first page of the document.

* The document preparer's name, phone number, and address should be listed below the 3-inch margin on the first page and on the left side, just above the document title. On the right side of the first page, also below the 3 inch margin and above the document title, the return to name and address information should be listed.

* Signatures must be in black or blue ink. Names should be printed or typed beneath signatures.
