About the Milton Town Clerk

Land records in Milton are recorded by the Town Clerk. The office is held by Kristin Beers.

StatewideDeeds and other conveyances are recorded in the clerk's office of the town in which the lands lie (27 V.S.A. § 341(a)). Deeds and conveyances of lands in an unorganized town, gore, or grant are recorded by the clerk of the county in which the lands lie (27 V.S.A. § 403). For the unified towns and gores in Essex County, the supervisor performs the duties the town clerk performs for a municipality (24 V.S.A. § 1353). Unorganized towns and gores in other counties, such as Buel's Gore (Chittenden), Glastenbury (Bennington), and Somerset (Windham), have a governor-appointed supervisor whose statutory duties do not include recording (24 V.S.A. §§ 1403, 1408). County clerks keep a general index of deeds recorded in their offices (27 V.S.A. § 401). A purchaser may also have a deed already recorded in the town clerk's office recorded by the county clerk, and if the town records are destroyed an attested copy from the county clerk has the same validity (27 V.S.A. § 402).

Digital land records are scanned back to 1970. Land records are available in the Town Clerk's Office, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., by appointment. Copies from the online system are $3.00 per page. The office does not look up recording information over the phone or perform title research.
